Peace of Art Presents Its Work in Bremen: “Life and Work Under Difficult Circumstances”

Date: May 6, 2026
Location: Le Keyf Restaurant, Bremen, Germany

As part of the International Bremen Peace Award 2026 program, Peace of Art International organized a special public event titled “Life and Work Under Difficult Circumstances” at Le Keyf Restaurant in Bremen, Germany.

The gathering brought together members of the local community, representatives of civil society, supporters of peacebuilding initiatives, and individuals interested in learning more about Peace of Art’s work and the realities of community engagement in challenging environments.

During the event, Mahdi Yahya, founder and Chairman of Peace of Art International and recipient of the International Bremen Peace Award 2026, shared personal reflections on growing up in Lebanon and the experiences that shaped his commitment to peacebuilding, dialogue, and social development. He spoke about the challenges of working in contexts affected by conflict, economic instability, displacement, and social fragmentation, while highlighting the resilience and creativity demonstrated by local communities.

The presentation offered participants an overview of Peace of Art’s journey from a grassroots initiative founded in Lebanon to an international organization working across sectors including peacebuilding, education, intercultural dialogue, youth empowerment, humanitarian action, environmental initiatives, and community development.

A central theme of the evening was the importance of maintaining hope and civic engagement even during times of crisis. Through stories from the field, examples of community-led initiatives, and reflections on lessons learned over the years, attendees gained insight into how ordinary citizens can contribute to building stronger, more resilient societies.

Hosted during Bremen Peace Award Week, the gathering reflected the spirit of international solidarity and mutual understanding that the award seeks to promote. It served as a reminder that meaningful change often begins with local action, community participation, and the willingness to engage constructively with difficult realities.
