Date: June 15, 2026
Location: Dresden, Saxony, Germany

Mahdi Yahya, founder and Chairman of Peace of Art International, attended the SPD Sachsen Summer Festival on June 15, 2026, alongside Aziz Bachouri, following an invitation from members of the Social Democratic Party (SPD) in Saxony.

The annual gathering brought together a diverse group of participants, including political leaders, civil society representatives, academics, community organizers, business professionals, cultural actors, and stakeholders from various sectors across Saxony and Germany. The event provided a valuable platform for dialogue, networking, and the exchange of ideas on current social, political, and international challenges.

Throughout the evening, Mahdi and Aziz engaged in discussions with numerous guests working in fields such as education, social integration, youth engagement, international cooperation, community development, healthcare, and cultural exchange. The conversations highlighted the importance of building partnerships across sectors and creating opportunities for collaboration between local communities and international actors.

One of the highlights of the event was meeting Petra Köpping, Saxony’s Minister for Social Affairs and Social Cohesion. During the exchange, Minister Köpping expressed her interest in visiting Lebanon and Syria in the near future to gain firsthand insight into the challenges and opportunities facing communities in the region.

The discussion explored possibilities for future cooperation, particularly in areas related to healthcare, social development, community resilience, and international exchange. Mahdi Yahya shared perspectives on the current realities in Lebanon and the work being carried out by Peace of Art International to support communities through education, dialogue, humanitarian action, and civic engagement. Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening international solidarity and creating meaningful partnerships that can contribute to sustainable development and social well-being.

The event also offered an opportunity to reflect on the role of civil society organizations in strengthening democratic participation and fostering social cohesion. Participants exchanged experiences from their respective fields and discussed practical approaches to addressing polarization, promoting inclusion, and encouraging active citizenship.

For Mahdi Yahya, the gathering reaffirmed the value of dialogue and relationship-building across cultures, institutions, and sectors. Events such as the SPD Summer Festival create spaces where ideas can be exchanged openly and where partnerships can emerge that contribute to positive change at both local and international levels.

The evening concluded with further networking and discussions about future initiatives that could connect communities in Germany, Lebanon, and beyond through cooperation, knowledge exchange, and shared commitment to social progress.

As Peace of Art International continues to expand its work across borders, opportunities such as these remain essential for strengthening international partnerships and advancing a vision of peacebuilding rooted in dialogue, mutual respect, and collective action.
